Sara Bay members are justifiably proud of our classic Donald Ross designed course near downtown Sarasota.  This walkable course challenges golfers of all ages and abilities.  The wide fairways are framed by tall Florida pines and moss-draped oaks.  The well placed bunkers filled with pristine white sand and subtle undulating greens all make for an enjoyable round of golf.  The club's personality and style of play suit everyone from professional golfers to serious amateurs and those looking for a more casual round with friends and family.  Our many active games and leagues make it easy to get involved and make new friends.

A nationally recognized golf writer described the 2018 Kris Spence restoration at Sara Bay as, “The finished product is splendid, Donald Ross in all his charm. Say what you will about Seminole, but Sara Bay may be the most authentic Donald Ross design in the Sunshine State.”

Sara Bay has hosted dozens of Florida State Golf Association major championships, the LPGA Symetra Tour, 100th US Women’s Southern Amateur as well as a number of USGA qualifying events.

Donald Ross described the ideal golf course as, "one that presents a test of golf for the everyday golfer and the first class player. A properly designed course can take care of every class of golfer. My aim is to bring out of the player the best golf that is in him. It will be difficult to negotiate some holes, but that is what golf is for. It is a mental test and an eye test. The hazards and bunkers are placed so as to force a man to use judgment and to exercise mental control in making the correct shot.”  Sara Bay fits this template perfectly.
